Fuzzy sound in ear? SLIGHT hearing loss?

Nott asked:

Sounds DO NOT sound fuzzy, I mean I hear a sound like a TV on that grey/color dot screen, very quiet, when my surroundings are quiet.
Also, I can hear my voice, when I talk, hear myself chew, all that, as if I’m holding my ear closed.

This is like what you get when you drive through mountainss . It doesn’t go away when I yawn or hold (and, you could say, push) my breath, which has always worked.
I sort-of yawned/exhaled heavily, and it went away for 30 or less seconds, a few hours ago.
I had this two days ago, for a few hours, I had it yesterday, pretty much all day, and a very short time after I woke up, I got it, and it won’t go away.
I suppose I’m asking for help in making this go away. It’s really making everything difficult.
Thank-you, everybody.
I haven’t swam in months, I actually hate loud sounds, and I practically killed myself cleaning earwax that wasn’t there.
It’s probably an ear infection. Thanks, again :]

Definetely the start of an ear infection. You don’t even have to be sick sometimes to have a slight ear infection. Chew gum if you think it is related to elevation or movement, but it sounds like an infection to me.

If by “what you get when you drive through the mountains” you mean the feeling of pressure that accompanies the sound, I’d suggest this: pinch your nose closed and GENTLY try to blow through your nose until your ears pop.

After that, I don’t know if I can help. Good Luck.

It’s good old ear wax build up. You can buy ear wax remover at the store. I have to use it every so often. Same exact symptoms I have.

I do two things when this happens to me.

    1. Put Tiger Balm on a cotton ball and sleep with it in the ear all night. If there is any liquid or any other obstruction in your ear this will suck it out. Keep in mind the tiger balm burns for a few seconds. You can find this at any drug or retail store near the icy hot section…

    2. After you have taken the cotton ball out. Dip a Q tip in rubbing alcohol and carefully swap your ear to get rid of anything left behind.

You may have to do this for a night or two before you can fully hear again.

IF this sound you hear is a high-pitched sound then your ear’s tissue has been damaged from either going to continuous loud rock-concerts. If this sound is not high-pitched then either you’re getting old (30+) or your ears have received loud sound for a long period of time. If this sound is muffled like when you ride on airplanes then it’s okay, you just have your eardrum’s pressurized

Have you been swimming or put your head under water at all? ….. if so you could have swimmers ear. you can try to pull on your bottom ear lobe gently or lay on that side so that the water can run out. if that doesn’t work there is an ear drop that you can buy at any drug store for swimmers ear. but if you are running a fever or you have a sore throat along with this ear problem then you should contact your doctor or pharmacist…. just trying to help. not sure if you had been in the pool or something….it sounds like what happens to me when i get swimmers ear.
