Having slight hearing loss makes you ineligible for the military? ?
Christina W asked:
I heard that if you have any hearing loss at all you are not eligible to join any armed forces. I’m very very very interested in joining the Navy but I have a slight hearing loss in my left ear. I can hear out of it, but just not as loudly as out of my right.

When you go for your physical they will do a hearing test, that’s the only way you’ll get your answer.

My friend just got medically discharged from the navy because of his slight hearing loss in one ear, so my guess is that it would make you ineligible, but you should still have an exam to make sure.

It depends, on the percent/level of loss and the reason for it.
Whether you had previous correctional surgery or wear hearing aids and the level of severity of the earring loss.
I took 2 test, one at MEPS and then one at MCRD, this is the same for Army/Navy BCT.
The one at MEPS was different from the one at MCRD, it was more intense.
All in all, yes this will disqualify you from joining any Armed Forces branch.
Regarding waivers:
If the earring loss is severe enough to DQ you, the wavier will not be granted towards you. Waivers are given to Poolee/DEPs that have passed certain hearing frequencies that makes them ineligible but can be denied at Boot Camp.
