i didnt treat my ear infection, will i get hearing loss?
everybodymoveyourbody asked:
I’m pretty sure i had an ear infection, but it wasn’t very bad. It ached every few minutes a little, but the pain was bearable. I didn’t know what it was and didn’t bother going to the doctor with it. I now found out it was probably an ear infection, i also have throat problems at the moment with a lot of mucus in it. I’m coughing, but that went away not long ago also. Will i do any permanet damage to my ears for not healing my ear ache, and letting it heal naturally. I think i got it from not wearing a hat outside in the winter. Should i still go to the doctor?

Many ear infections go away on their own. No worries of hearing damage. Mucus and draining is not fun…and can continue to cause ear issues..so keep an eye on it. If you like spicy foods, etc..can help cut the mucus…and stay away from dairy as it is naturally mucus forming in the body

The human body is made to fight infections and heal itself on its own. The problems come when someone’s immune system is weakened and can’t fight the infection or when people get impatient or because they were raised to believe that every infection needs antibiotics to cure it. If you aren’t experiencing any problems with your hearing, I wouldn’t worry about it. Same goes for the cough that just went away. As for the mucus, you can try an humidifier in your bedroom at night, and taking guaifenesin syrup (which is sold in every drugstore in America in the cough medicine aisle and is the same thing as Mucinex only MUCH cheaper) a few times a day. The guaifenesin syrup thins out mucus, making it easier for you to expel it. Robitussin makes one and so do most generic companies. If your cold is gone, look for the one that has guaifenesin as its only ingredient … nothing added for coughs. That one is much more potent. We’ve been using that stuff in our family for congestion for years and it works better than any cold or sinus medicine on the market. Good luck!
