Living with a hearing aid at a young age?
Stuart asked:
Over the last few years I had noticed I just wasnt catching everything that was being said, and that it was actually somewhat of a hindrance socially and on the job (annoying). Just earlier this semester I got a hearing aid. It works well but people have noticed it. I dont know if I should keep it. Glasses seem accepted in today’s society, but what about hearing aids? I mean I’m 19 and its kind of awkward that while youre talking to someone they look at your ear =/ Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

tell them it is a football injury, or you got kick in the ear when you were saving a little girl from being kicked by a horse.. make them feel bad for looking at you funny..
when they say “really, is that what happened’.. look at them and say “no. I was born with some hearing lose”

Do you want to hear or look cool? If cool is the answer get one of those little ones that fit right in you ear or one that looks like a blue tooth or like an I pod.

i know you must sometimes feel differant but don,t ive lost some hearing and its noise indused moderate hearing loss and it not only was thought to run in the family but really lost from years of work and everyone in the test place from work sufferd the same and from working in loud areas not protected is not the same as natual but back to the point there are several young guys i worked with that had them younger than you and be thankfull the hearing aids are not the old style and i thought there was a break throw in ear surgery like all these people were talking about.good luck and i wouldn,t let it bother me my glasses don,t.

hearing aids
I remember when I was a very little kid and i saw a kid with a hearing aid for the first time. I was probably 4 or 5 years old and at that time the hearing aids required a ear piece but the hearing aid part was about as big as a deck of cards are pack of cigarettes and fit in a shirt pocket or whatever.
Be glad todays hearing aids are almost unnoticable.
I work with a guy who has double hearing aids and he is always joking about it actually. saying stuff like im deaf in one ear and cant hear out of the other. very good natured guy. just be that type of person.. no one really cares anyway and if they do its their problem. the person you are is in the heart not the electronics.
