My BFs left ear gets clogged at least once or twice a year & the clogging is accopanied by muted or 80% loss of hearing. Usually he just puts some ear ache drops in there & in a few days he’s right as rain.

But this time he had the clogging & loss of hearing, we decided to try & unclog his ear w/ a common earwax rinse from the drug store. It allowed some hearing to be restored, but now we has a sharp, stinging inner ear pain. Sounds like an infection, but not sure if I should give him antibiotic or pain killer. Should I be afraid ear drum may be damaged?

Ok, that sounded odd. Basically, if I walk down the street listening to my headphones, I have to turn them up louder to hear the music, thanks to cars and trucks passing by. Does this have the same detrimental effect on my hearing that turning the music louder would if I were in a quiet room, like a library?

I’m pretty sure i had an ear infection, but it wasn’t very bad. It ached every few minutes a little, but the pain was bearable. I didn’t know what it was and didn’t bother going to the doctor with it. I now found out it was probably an ear infection, i also have throat problems at the moment with a lot of mucus in it. I’m coughing, but that went away not long ago also. Will i do any permanet damage to my ears for not healing my ear ache, and letting it heal naturally. I think i got it from not wearing a hat outside in the winter. Should i still go to the doctor?

My left ear feels plugged and it is really painful. Also, if I tilt my head to the left side it feels like someone is stabbing my eardrum. My throat only on my left side hurts and I have mucus drainage in the back of my throat. I am starting to cough a lot for the last hour too. When i finally did get something to cough out it was dark brown. I have only felt a pain like this before when my ears wouldn’t pop while in an airplane. Thank you all who can tell me whats wrong with me and what I can do to ease this pain.

Also, I was just on antibiotics zithromax for my cold that the dr said i was on the verge of pneumonia with. thanks again.

The doctor seems to be the route I’m heading. has anybody heard of this saline flushing with a “teapopt” type apparatis?? what’s your take?
