Sudden dizziness, loss of body control, impared hearing, over-sweating?
Allysa asked:
My mother, who is 50 but in better shape than most 20 year olds, has been getting dizzy spells, almost fainting, overheating to the point where her body is covered in sweat, and she says she cant hear anything but the noise of rushing water. She recovers in about an hour. She has recently started taking diet pills. Could they be related?

Could be the diet pills. Has she gone through menopause yet. Maybe a combination of changing hormones, and diet pills. She should really stop the pills and see her doctor. The over the counter ones are not always safe.

I am suspicious your mom may have Meniere’s disease. It is a disorder that presents with acute vertigo (sometimes with vomiting), rushing tinnitus in one/both ears, and hearing loss that typically recovers when the episode is over. Have your mother schedule an appt with an ENT and audiologist for a work-up.
