Go to your local guitar center or use the link below and buy a pair of heros. They are about $15 and i use them when i film live shows and my brother uses them when ever his band "Novice" plays. I have used these for about 3 years and only replaced them once.

What damages the ear drum is excessive decibals. The common term is 15 minutes of continuous 100db or louder damages the ear drum. If you go to an Audiologist you can get specially fit ear plugs that don't muffle the sound, they simply drop 10-20 decibals so you can still hear all the frequencies without damaging your ear drums as badly. Since you are a DJ it is crucial to get these, because there is no way your hearing won't suffer if you don't. Getting concert ear plugs like ones you can get at Musician's Friend will cut out frequency that as a DJ you will need to hear.

If you have to DJ that many times, then I would first set the volume before the party to a level that is loud enough to get things moving, then put on some headphones that have a lot of padding. Turn the volume down on your headphones so its not so loud. At night put on some earplugs or something.

ear plug is your best option. I believe there are ones that just soften the sounds.

lower volumes/not standing next the the speakers in concerts

not using earphones/headphones
