What Cell Phones are Hearing Aid compatible?

Blood Angel asked:

Well I recently bought a Motorola cell phone, the i425 from Boost Mobile, because they said it was hearing aid compatible. But when I try to use it, all I get is a bunch of static and noises coming from the cell phone itself. I figured out I can’t use a Razor, or one piece phones like the iPhone or Black Berry. It needs to be a flip phone, but finding one that isn’t going to interfere with my hearing aid is hard, so I’m hoping someone here knows a few models that do work with hearing aids. Thank you.

Hearing aids and cell phones are supposed to now have a rating for their compatibility with one another. Couple things I suggest trying:
    1) If you have a telecoil program on your hearing aids, switch the hearing aid into that. It is often labeled as “T” or is a program your hearing professional programmed for you. The telecoil is designed to only pick up electromagnetic energy from phones (land lines are better but cell phones should work). This reduced static, whistling and other quality issues.
    2) Call your audiologist or whomever sold you the hearing aids and ask if they recommend any cell phone brand for your hearing aids.
    3) If the professional is of no help, contact the manufacturer of the hearing aids and ask if they have brand recommendation.

This is a section on the Hearing Loss Association of America’s website on cell phone and hearing aid compatibility – great information:
