what should I do about my temporary hearing loss?
jellyfish asked:
I have had a terrible head cold for a week now and my ears are so “clogged” that it is effecting my hearing. any good home remedys for fixing this, short of going to the doctor? I’m not opposed to otc meds but I haven’t found any that seem to work. please help!!
The doctor seems to be the route I’m heading. has anybody heard of this saline flushing with a “teapopt” type apparatis?? what’s your take?

you need to see the doctor for an antiobitic to clear up the infection in your system. don’t wait as infections can get out of hand.

You might have an ear infection, which would indicate a doctor and some antibiotics.
If you’re really opposed to that route, try this:
1) Lots of clear fluids (hot or cold — water, juice, tea, sports drinks, broth)
2) NO dairy (it increases mucus production – icky – not what you want more of right now)
3) OTC decongestant (any will do – just be sure you get daytime formula for day, nighttime formula for night, unless you want to be a basket case)
Then be prepared for it to take longer to clear up than it would if you went the doctor/antibiotic route. But if you do use antibiotics, the above stuff will still help you feel better.
Good luck.
