Where has Syphilis, the “King of STDs” gone now a days? Every body is speaking of…AIDS… AIDS and AIDS…only?!

chandrasekharam b asked:

Syphilis was a ”phobic” Major “ever pervading” Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) some time back. This Disease when once contracted and not treated properly goes deeply every where into the body leaves no tissue in the body unattacked, runs a specific Primary, Secondary and Tertiary stages of courses and goes even into the child in the womb of the suffering mother, causing congenital Syphilis!
In cases where the primary Hunterian chancre is not treated properly in full, it goes steadily deep into the body. During secondary stage it is highly infectious; and in the final tertiary stages of Syphilis there is no tissue / organ in the body that is left unaffected!
But surprisingly we are not hearing much or any thing about this disease now a days. Where has this disease gone?
And now a days wherever we go we hear of HIV-AIDS only!
Does it mean that we have forgotten or eradicated Syphilis?
Or is it that the present HIV-AIDS is a mutation of the Syphilis causing spirochetes!
Or what?

Count Spirochetes is still going strong and becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics.

For every 100,000 people there are 8,724 with syphilis.
Syphilis is easy to cure in its early stages. A single intramuscular injection of penicillin, an antibiotic, will cure a person who has had syphilis for less than a year. Additional doses are needed to treat someone who has had syphilis for longer than a year. For people who are allergic to penicillin, other antibiotics are available to treat syphilis. There are no home remedies or over-the-counter drugs that will cure syphilis. Treatment will kill the syphilis bacterium and prevent further damage, but it will not repair damage already done.
Syphilis hasn’t gone the way of small pox, or the Dodo. It’s prevalent everywhere.
If anyone ever contracts the disease, they, or their doctor, have to register them at the CDC for statistical purposes.

Syphilis is still around, but with the introduction of penicillin it’s not as big of an issue as it has been in the past.

Syphilis can still cause death and severe health issues if it goes untreated for a while, but most people usually cure it before it gets too bad.

HIV/AIDS has always been a big issue since it was first discovered back in the early 80s. There is no cure for HIV/AIDS because HIV/AIDS are caused by viruses, not bacteria like syphilis is. Bacterial STDs can be treated and cured; viral STDs have NO cure.

So, even though both STDs can cause death and severe health issues, they are REALLY different. Syphilis can be cured; HIV/AIDS can NOT be cured. Syphilis can NOT “mutate” into HIV/AIDS. Bacteria don’t “mutate” into viruses.

    Take care!

    Where have YOU been??

No one has “forgotten” about syphillis. It’s out there…believe me, it’s out there.

So are gonorrhea, chlamydia and genital warts.

I hear about it all the time. I don’t know what cave you have been living in. HIV is only one of many diseases that can be sexually transmitted.

I have read reports that find that chlamydia is a pre-cursor to syphillis. Chlamydia does not present symptoms in men as it does in women. Chlamydia rates are pretty high in the US and is found to be a recurring problem in women that are infected. The fact that chlamydia can non-present in men and is recurring in women, and that it can mutate into syphillis if not properly treated does create a major health risk – especially for women.

Syphilis is still the 3rd most common STI after Chlym and GC. it is very much around. Thankfully the only antibiotic that it seems to have developed resitiance to is zithromax – so penicillian is still used as the primary anti of choice.
