Make sure you see an audiologist. Audiologists have a masters or doctorate degree and learn about hearing health care. You can get a decent hearing aid for your price. You will want to get two hearing aids if you have hearing loss in both ears. I would suggest getting a hearing aid from one of the following manufacturers in no specific order Phonak, Unitron, Resound, Starkey, or Siemens. These manufacturers make good products and they can be programmed by any audiologist typically. A lot of dispenser offices use their own brand of hearing aid and you are stuck going to one of their stores if you are not happy with the service you receive.
Make sure you get a digital hearing aid with directional microphones (they help you hear better in background noise). Hope this helps.
